Happy 100th Anniversary of Black History Month!

A hand can be seen writing a list of actions one can take and activities for Black History Month. These are tough times for Black people. One of the Trump administration’s first actions was to dismantle diversity, equity and inclusion, beginning on day one in January 2025. Many believe this has ushered in the New Jim Crow and was done to undermine any and all gains that Black Americans have strived to make since the last Jim Crow era. (See the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Executive Order Tracker.)

While not fully parallel, race and class are intersectional. Racism and classism are a toxic brew. It is up to us ClassCelebrants to keep the flame of justice lit.

What can you do? First, learn about Black history, history that the federal and many state administrations never want you to know or want you to forget.

There are many resources for learning. One to start with is BlackPast.org. It is the largest online encyclopedia of Black history. Check it out and learn. Then you will be ready to take action.
